I picked this first issue of a six issue mini-series up because of
the beautiful painted cover. I flipped the comic open and was surprised to see the same
painted artwork in the interior. Since the main character, Artesia, was a female in armor
and her breasts were not impossibly huge I decided to give it a shot.
The story is told from the viewpoint of Artesia, concubine to King Branimir of Huelt and Captain of his army. Artesia seems to be something of a witch as well which by issues end is looking to cause her some trouble.
Mark Smylie has done a wonderful job creating the dark fantasy world of Artesia. If youre a fan of well-crafted fantasy and stunning painted artwork give Artesia a try.
Artesia #2 is out now and since Sirius isnt one of the big publishers you may have trouble finding this series locally. If you do have problems, write to Sirius at P.O. Box 834, Dover, NJ 07802. Or you can try the Artesia web site at www.daradja.com.
